    Tesla Drives Into India With Model Y, Priced at ₹60 Lakh

    Tesla Model Y in India: American EV Maker, Tesla, has officially launched its first car, the Model Y, for the Indian market. According to Tesla, the Model Y will be available in two variants, with a self-driving feature as an optional extra. It will also be offered in two battery packs: a 60kWh and a 75kWh. Further, you can choose the Model Y from seven colour options and two interior trims. Tesla will be importing its cars from its Shanghai factory.

    Tesla offers the Indian-spec Model Y in two battery pack options. The 60kWh battery pack have a claimed range of 500 km, and the 75 kWh battery pack has a 622 km claimed range.

    Tesla is offering the RWD variant of the Model Y in India. It comes with a single-motor setup and produces 290 bhp. Further, it has a claimed top speed of 201 km/h, and can do a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds. However, the long-range variant of the Model Y can do a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.6 seconds.

    Tesla is offering seven colour options in the Model Y. However, the Stealth Grey shade is free and the rest six colours are paid options.

    For the interiors, you’ll get the black interiors for free of cost. However, for the white-black interiors, you have to pay ₹1,85,000.

Looking forward to seeing you at the charging station.” Anand Mahindra further added an old tweet, dating back eight years, wherein Musk hailed India’s plan for selling only EV cars. In that tweet, Mahindra said, “Time you got out here, Elon. You don’t want to leave that whole market to Mahindra, do you?? The more the merrier—and greener..!” Musk’s short but telling reply at the time was: “Good point :)”

Additonally, it will come with black interiors as a standard option. If you wish to upgrade to white and black interiors, then you have to pay ₹95,000 extra.

    Why is it expensive in Gurugram?

    Under Haryana government EV policy 2022, all the electric four-wheelers were charged ₹500 for the first 10,000 buyers. Since, this policy cover is exhausted, you’ll have to pay complete registration fees on the time of delivery, resulting in a higher price of the car. However, the import duty on the Model Y in all the states is same.

The Apache RTR 310 (2025) still offers 5 riding modes, which are Track, SuperMoto, Rain, Urban, and Sport.

    However, TVS has removed the climate control seat, which helped the rider to either cool or warm the seat depending on the climate.

    The next Tesla showroom is set to open in New Delhi Aerocity around the end of July. Regarding the charging infrastructure, Delhi will also get four upcoming charging stations, located in Saket, Aerocity, Gurugram, and Noida, which will include 16 Superchargers and 15 Destination Chargers.
